Here is the world premier of a theory of mine that has been brewing for years. Are you ready? In thinking about a unifying theory on music, or at least pop music, and what makes a song sticky. You know the type of song that is in your head all day, compared to one that you just move on from very quickly. On common thread I have found for me, I wonder if it is that subjective. After discussing this with Karin I don't believe so. How many songs that make it as popular songs regardless of genre have the word 'baby' in the chorus or hook? There are a few reasons as to the why that I can come up with. But I am at the place when a song sticks with me that I am not surprised that if it has the word 'baby' in it.
